What collor should we paint our front door?
March 29th, 2007 | by door |BG asked:
We are getting a new front door. We currently have forest green door, sidelights, and shutters, and looks exactly like several other houses in neighborhood. We have red brick (regular looking bricks, not sure what exact color would be considered) at bottom and very light tan siding for rest, with white garage door and trim, and a white storm door. What color would be best for door, sidelights and shutters, to stand out a little more?

Red, it is a tradition for many, many cultures to paint the front door red.
Just do a google search.

If you do decide to go with a red colour, be very sure it is fade and sun resistant. There is nothing uglier than something that was painted a nice red and then washed out in the sunlight to some kind of sicko pink. You should probably stick with green unless you want to redo the sidelights and shutters. Depending on where you live, you may also need to check local bylaws to see what colours are allowed, especially if you are in a designated area.
Visit your local hardware store and check out the paint chips to see what colour appeals to you.

Dark marine blue or royal blue, very happy with my front door in the first color, with silver chrome letter box and numerals.

international paint is great for front doors and it really makes a f/door look good,it comes in quite avariety of colours,eg,gloss black, chestnut, darkish red,and many more, but black or brown sounds good.it would really enhance the surroundings and the door furniture.

You could use black or navy blue or even a medium blue. Red would work too depending on the shade. It would have to be different from the brick but in the same family. There are so many reds! Would a shade of coral or apricot work? Experiment with this website:
