How do I go about wiring a door buzzer?

Electriclimb asked:

I am trying to wire a door buzzer that goes off when someone enters the warehouse. The four items I have to wire are as follows: I have a normally closed circuit on the door. This comes in two parts (one part is on the wall and one on the door). When the door is opened, the circuit will break and the door buzzer should go off if wired correctly. The other items are a on/off toggle switch, a 12v power supply and a buzzer (with the black (+) and red (-) leads. If anyone can help me here, it would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

All your devices will be wired on the + side of the power source to the buzzer. From the buzzer return to -. Just a big circle.
In other words, power through the switch, through the door to the buzzer to the -.

First of all, the buzzer won’t go off when the circuit is broken by opening the door. The circuit must be competed by opening the door, not interrupted. You need a normally closed switch, held open by the closed door. The switches will be wired in series with the power supply and the buzzer.
