How do I keep my door from sliding down and scraping the ground?

It seems that the door hinges loosen up and cause the door to fall slightly. How do I keep it from doing this? Thanks!

Use longer screws, but you will probably need to go to a nut & bolt supply company rather than a hardware store as most hinge screws are #9 & most hardware/home improvement stores only carry #8 or #10 screws.
If your screws are 3/4″ then use 1.25″ or 1.5″ screws & be sure to pilot drill for the longer screws with a 3/32″ bit.
If you are mounting to a metal frame, you will need to countersink the hinge to fit a larger ***** as the threads in the frame will need to be re-tapped for a larger size.
Hope this helps…

Another option is to take wooden golf tees and pound them into the ***** holes in the door jamb as far as they will go, then cut them off flush, and rehang the door.

The best solution to a door that drags on the floor or hits the door frame in any way when it closes is to take out one or more of the hinge screws that are in the jamb, and replace them with a 3 inch sheetrock ***** (Lowes or Home Depot). This will allow the long ***** to reach the framing that is surrounding the door trim and pull the door back up to its correct position. Be sure the ***** angles towards the center of the wall so it grabs the framing, and not the sheetrock. Use a drill, and if you over tighten the ***** it can pull the jamb to far causing the top of the door to hit the top of the jamb on the hinge side causing the door to be jamb-bound. If this occurs simply loosen the ***** a little. I am a trim carpenter and have done this a thousand times on all kinds of doors.
Good Luck
