How much does it cost to have a door installed?

I’m having 2 interior doors put in, one in the front and one in the back. Installed for 2 soild steel doors is about $3500.00 which includes the new door frames. I see doors at Home Depot or Lowes for like $400, and I’m sure to install is alot. Any idea on a typical price?

you cant get an accurate estimate here. it depends on the contractor,parts,labor time involved etc. you should always get several prices before you settle on one.

New framing does raise the cost, but that’s quite steep…I’d get another estimate or two.

you need to give more details. you say they are interior doors but then say front and rear. would you call them exterior doors if you look at them from the outside??? the average interior door (hollow core) removal and install with trim and no paint should be roughly 125.00 to 175.00 per door.If you are haveing new exterior doors installed i usually charge about 500.00 per door. that is installation only and does not include the price for the doors,trim,paint and painting. Also some contractors will charge you a fee to take and despose of the old doors and misc. debris.
also get more than one quote make sure the contractor has references(call them as well) and is liscenced and insured in the state you are in.

there are so many factors to consider, for a door installation, but I cant imagine any interior door job costing that much. I’d take that job any day. Now if they are exterior doors, this is a different story, are the doors stock size or special order this also includes jamb depth. is there additional labor, i.e. water damage, major settling. what quality are the doors, do they have fancy glass? the quick answer is how much for the door’s? I would charge for a basic door no side-lites no addition’s $250.00
