The soap door in our dishwasher isn’t opening during the wash cycle?

It’s a newer Kenmore Quiet Guard standard, and all of the sudden the door will not open to let the soap out during the cycle. I tried cleaning around the hinge and the entire area, thinking it may be stuck, but, alas…any ideas?

Maybe it’s too full? I don’t know. My grandma never closed hers when she ran her dishwasher. So…maybe just leave it open.

Ah ha, somebody else with the same problem and same machine. I put the soap pellet outside the machine and let it go into the machine without going through the process. However, I saw my wife putting the pellet inside the door, so it must be working again. Don’t know, good question.

The soap containers can get a bit gummed up with soap. Check it carefully and clean away any crusty old soap or dirt that might be caked around the door and especially the hinge and latch.
There is a product available that actually cleans the interior of your dishwasher. I haven’t used it but my daughter has and she told me it really works. It is avail. from supermarket.

Hand wash all dishes before your husband gets home. Then greet him with nice kisses.

I’m going to have to agree with Schmorgen…
Or just make him do the dishes.
