What is the weight capacity of a screen door closer being held open?

I want to use one to hold up a folding table that is attached to a wall. When it folds out there’s nothing to hold it up so I was thinking I could attach the screen door closer and move the metal piece up that usually holds the screen door open. Is this feasible? How much weight can a door holder support? Any cheap better ideas?

Door closers for your purpose would be “locked” in place with the attached clip. It would work for less that about 20 pounds since any more than that would probably bend the rod. I would suggest making a wood brace on a hinge that folds under the table when not in use.
