“Mama, take this badge off of me
I can’t use it anymore.
It’s gettin’ dark, too dark for me to see
I feel like I’m knockin’ on heaven’s door.
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Mama, put my guns in the ground
I can’t shoot them anymore.
That long black cloud is comin’ down
I feel like I’m knockin’ on heaven’s door.
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door”

Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” is a song written and performed by Bob Dylan for the soundtrack of the 1973 film Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid.

This is written by Dylan, not Marley, not Clapton, and most definitely not GnR. Obviously you people who think otherwise have internet access, I suggest you look it up and see that you’re wrong.

Guns and Roses covered it dumbass its a Bob Dylan song. Written for a movie. Bob Marley wrote I Shot the Sheriff which Dylan never touched but Clapton covered. But if you take a look at it GnR wasn’t around yet when this was released.

No. Dylan definetly wrote it, I have it on a few Dylan CD’s I have and he’s given writers credit. He originally wrote it in 1973 for the soundtrack to “Pat Garrick and Billy the kid”….Clapton did cover it however
