How do I repair rear driver side door lock on 1990 Pontiac Bonneville?
April 16th, 2010 | by door |miklo asked:
It originally didn’t open at all. I removed inside door panel and vapor barrier and manipulated the latching mechanism until I could open the door. Upon further tinkering, I could get the door to open and close. This was looking good until I locked and unlocked the door. It would not open again without my manipulating the latching mechanism again. It seems that once it is locked and then unlocked, something I cannot see is not springing back into place. Any suggestions besides replacing the door would be most appreciated. Thank you.

wow, i dont think i would replace the whole door. it sounds like your right, the locking mechanism is not working properly. you could replace just that mechanism if you can find the parts, i would try to just take it out and clean it first, chances are good it is rusty and corroded. i would clean it really well and try it then, then if that dosent work you can replace the locking mechanism, then trouble shoot into the door latch itself if it still dosent work. also make sure that everything is well lubed with some wd 40 or pb blaster, or even white lithium grease.

In truth, immediately i didn’t understand the essence. But after re-reading all at once became clear.
