met rich once! circa 1992. no shoes..t-shirt…lol. i was 19. i wanted to be a musician more than anything. I asked him for advice. He told me to be God’s. Belong to God. in 1997, i was working in a cd store when i leatned of his death. i nearly fell to the ground. i remember his words though. Im not much of a musician…but i belong to God. Does anyting else really matter?
ya i saw him in florida, but didn’t get to eat with him though, he always played in concert without any shoes on!!
it was his trademark and him and the ragamuffins where always friendly and open and honest!!!
Got to do this with the band back in 91 in Spoken, WA. Our local station in Sandpoint, ID had a Sunday night Christian program. The DJ was a friend of mine and invited a few of us to go to a concert. I had never heard of Rich Mullins before that. We got there early and needed to use the bathroom. When I came out my friends were talking to Rich and the band. We ended up having Spaghetti dinner with then and they set us in the front row. The best concert I have ever been to in my life.
It brings back such good memories to see this! And to know that Eric and Mitch are married and daddies and all that…way to go, Kid Brothers! Got to see them at the last retreat Alyssa and Dave did in Dallas, that was years ago. We’ll be seeing Rich again in the New Jerusalem.
Yep it’s a great song. Rich Mullins was a very gifted man. So many godly songs coming out of 1 man and everybody gets blessed. Another awesome thing about him was he never knew the amount of money he made which I am sure was in the hundreds of millions. But every quarter he got paid from his record company it went to his church and he had them give him a check for whatever an average working man would get. He never cared about material things or money-it was all about the Glory of God.I miss him
embarrassing question here. we just saw mitch last night in joliet, illinois. Is that him 2nd from the left? I took my kids to see Mitch and wanted to show them videos of Rich. Rich went to be with the Lord when I was pregnant with my son (who is now 10-I also have a daughter who is (Ironically, I know the guy next to Rich, he is a long time friend of my Pastor-Lary Dean. I believe his name is Mark Robertson?)
If a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod and he dies at his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, he survives a day or two, no vengeance shall be taken; for he is his property. Ex 21:20-21
You may also buy them from among the children of aliens among you, or from their families, whom the begot in your land. These shall become your property: you may keep them as a possession for your children, for them to inherit as property for all time. Such you may treat as slaves. Lev 25:44
Hey Avery,
So good to see you on here. I imagine you’re about 13 now. You’re the one with the love for food art, right? I’ve seen some of your creations. Can’t imagine where you get that from :).
Well, I played the cup game at camp, and then again at Dulcimer Week in North Carolina. We had a blast doing it.
Can’t believe Beaker has so many kids. Avery, you’re a blessing. Thanks for letting us know who you are.
Blessings
That is a long, long story. Everyone should wear his or her seatbelt. But do you know that - and i refuse to get into detail here because it is just not appropriate - Rich’s death saved Mitch’s life? I know it’s a choice he would make again and again. And i’m glad he’s your favorite artist - he was IMMENSELY blessed and gifted. ‘Love Rich so much!!
